A sunny seat

Llandudno-Pier-N-Wales

Taken yesterday afternoon, one of the numerous memorial benches that can now be found on Llandudno Pier.

The Great Orme provides a very scenic background.

  1. It is so nice that people give these benches to the town. I wonder what happened to all the benches that were in the Rectory Tea Gardens. A lovely view again.

  12. I visited Llandudno last week (Aug 2015) with my 3 children. When I was a child this was our summer holiday year after year. It was such a happy fantastic time. We had a great visit until we decided to walk the pier, I have happy memories of the boat trips around puffin Island running from the end of the pier and was excited to see it all again.

However the walk down the pier turned into a morbid silence. With each step taken passed the dark brown remembrance benches you could feel the atmosphere change. No one spoke, it was very quite, like walking through a grave yard. It was bench after bench just a few yards apart all the way down both sides of the pier.

This is not a garden of remembrance. its a morbid attempt to make money and it looks disgusting. Happy memories do not need ugly dark ‘Death Benches’. Needless to say not one person was sat on any of these benches, instead they all walk quietly down the middle of the pier.

The dead have a place where they can be loved and respected, the pier is not one of those places and we will not be visiting Llandudno again.

    Far to upsetting.
