St George’s Hotel

The St George’s Hotel, seen from the promenade earlier this morning.

The hotel opened in 1854 and was the first modern building to be built on the promenade, it also had the first lift inside a hotel in Wales. Famous guests to have stayed here include five British Prime Ministers: Benjamin Disraeli, William Ewart Gladstone, David Lloyd George, Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher.

  1. Oh I can’t wait to see their superior suite!

  2. it looks very grand!

  3. Am saving up for this one! Sea view room would be nice.

  4. This is a splendid building. i bet the walls could tell some stories about the past important guests.especially Winston Churchill.. 🙂

    • Legend has it that Churchill requested a candle when he arrived, which unfortunately was after all the shops had closed. A candle was eventually found for him, turned out he only wanted it to light his cigars with!

  5. It is a gorgeous structure and I love that’s fill with history! I’ll bet it costs an arm and a leg to stay there, though! BTW, the other night we watched an HGTV show about people buying a farm in northern Wales but I wasn’t sure if the town was near you or not.

  6. Such a beautiful hotel with a distinguished list of guests. I bet it’s nice inside.

  7. It’s been a while since the last visit!

  8. I’d love to stay in a place like that!

  9. It looks very stately.

  10. I always enjoy seeing this hotel. It looks very distinguished.
