Passing cloud

This was the scene from the pier yesterday afternoon, a solitary cloud floats over the Great Orme.

Hope you have a sunny weekend!

  1. A lovely tranquil scene, I would have gone out on the boat that day. 🙂

  2. All is calm and peaceful.Even the Orme looks as if it is having a snooze. Happy weekend.

  3. The expression “Passing Cloud” is evocative.

When we collected cigarette packets (not cigarette cards – those were for cissies) “Passing Cloud” was just about the rarest brand you could find.

Often wondered what the smoke itself must have been like. Better than Woodbines, I suspect!

    • My father smoked these in the 50’s and I remember a pink coloured packet with the picture of a cavalier on the front. I think the cigarettes were oval in shape.Amazing what memories a passing cloud evokes!

      • Thanks for that re-assurance. So I WAS remembering correctly. Your Dad was obviously dead posh! I wish I’d have known him – I could have got some good swaps for his discarded packets!

Best wishes from Craig y don

  4. He he… Looks like a crocodile with fluffy ears.
    Weird but cute!

  5. I like Barbara’s description of the orme having a snooze.its like theres a little think bubble above its head waiting for a caption to be
Inserted…i think i can spot a tour bus on the marine drive. Lucky people. Have a great weekend all !!.. 🙂

  6. so peaceful!

  7. It looks like you might have had a little calmer weather.

  8. I don’t know much about geology, but there seems to be a lot of it in this photo!

  9. All is calm!

  10. The water is such a beautiful colour in that light.

  11. I have not been to Conwy either 😦
So many places I want to visit in Wales!

  12. Caption? I WANDERED lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills… — William Wordsworth

  13. What a shame that the Waverley was a day early. It would have been a smoother ride for it under that solitary cloud!

  14. Such a beautiful scene! Love the blue. 🙂
