A walk around the Great Orme #16

Picture of the Great Orme Llandudno

We’re taking a break for a while, so we thought we would take you on a walk all the way around the Great Orme until we’re back. There will also be a few interesting facts mentioned on our walk, which we have compiled from various sources. Apologies in advance if any aren’t 100% accurate!

You get a good idea of just how strong the wind can be blowing in off the sea, from the angle of this tree seen in the foreground!

Over to the right is this information board.

In 1940 the government decided to move the Royal Artillery’s Gunnery School from Shoeburyness in Essex, to Llandudno. More information can be found here.

  1. I can see the wind gets pretty strong along here.

  2. That wind would probably blow me over! I’d have to drag a chain and anchor on my walk!

  3. Nice sight of the west shore peeping around the corner ahead of us,i think that tree will be leaning further over after the warning of the storm thats on its way here, batten down tge hatches!!.very interesting info about the gunnery school..

  4. Poor old tree. It’s clinging on (probably a hawthorn!) This is a magnificent view with acres to explore on the shoreline too. I bet it’s good for blackberries there and poking about old ruins.

  5. The view is marvellous!

  6. It’s like a natural bonzai!
