The Rocking Stone

On the southern slopes of the Great Orme lies an area known as Pen Dinas. Where once stood an Iron Age hill fort, the remains of over fifty hut circles are still evident to this day.

This is a photo of the Rocking Stone (Maen Sicl) taken this morning. Legend has it that Druids used the Rocking Stone as a means of finding criminals guilty or innocent. The accused were made to stand on the stone, if the stone rocked they were deemed innocent. If not, they were taken to the nearby cliff and thrown off onto the rocks below…
